Benfica and Sporting draw and postpone title decision

Benfica and Sporting draw and postpone title decision
The Lisbon derby ended in a 1-1 draw and the national champion will only be decided in the last round of the Portuguese I League

Benfica and Sporting postponed the decision for the Portuguese football championship title until the last round, after drawing (1-1) today in the derby of the 33rd round of the I Football League, at Estádio da Luz. Winger Trincão put the “lions” ahead after just four minutes, but Turkish player Kerem Akturkoglu equalised in the 63rd minute, keeping the two rivals level on points, with 79 points, and with just one game left to play in the championship.

Sporting, who will host Vitória de Guimarães in the final round next Saturday, remain in the lead, given their advantage in the direct confrontation with Benfica, who will visit Sporting de Braga, and the “green and whites” only need to achieve the same result as the “reds” to be crowned two-time national champions.
