A partnership between Coritiba and the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR) revealed a very curious historical document, which had been hidden for decades: the Alviverde membership card of the president of Athletico , Mario Celso Petraglia.
The record shows Petraglia's admission as a partner of Coxa in 1962. A story that had already been revealed by the Furacão director in 2015, in a press conference, for the announcement of a new sponsor in conjunction with the rival.
"I got tired of watching games there (Couto Pereira). I was a Coritiba member because I went to the Carnival balls to flirt with the "Cotton-Brancas" (Brazilian women). So, I watched the Atlético Mineiro soccer teams from the stands. Today, I no longer see this coexistence as romantic," Petraglia said at the time.
The president of Flamengo spoke about the matter again months later, in an interview with the Fox Sports channel.
The story may have been known, but the document attesting to Petraglia's time as a member of Coxa remained undiscovered, among thousands of documents, which are now under the care of UFPR.
The "Coritiba, Curitiba and the History of Our People" project will organize, catalog, and digitize all items in the club's collection. In the future, all materials will be available for public consultation.
