E-Redes had around 25,000 customers without electricity at 12:00 PM this Wednesday , due to bad weather, and 500 operational staff mobilized in the field, hoping to "quickly resolve all constraints," announced the electricity distribution network operator.
"At 12:00 PM, there are nearly 25,000 customers still awaiting power, and with improved weather conditions expected in the afternoon, E-Redes hopes to quickly resolve all issues," the company said in a statement.
The electricity distribution network operator stated that "it has mobilized 500 operational personnel on the ground to provide a robust and effective response to the constraints and power outages that have been felt throughout the country."
At 7:00 AM, there were 53 reported outages and approximately 31,000 customers without electricity, a situation that worsened around 8:00 AM, affecting 37,000 customers, mainly in the Mondego and Tagus regions.
According to the company, at 8:30 am there was a peak of around 60,000 customers without power, and by 11:00 am "there was a significant improvement in the response to resolving the constraints experienced in the network, with around 42,000 customers without electricity," mainly in the districts of Santarém, Castelo Branco, and Portalegre.
E-Redes further detailed that it activated the alert status from 8:00 PM on Tuesday, due to the forecast of bad weather with heavy rain and thunderstorms, which began affecting the northern area of Lisbon from this morning and moved towards the northern interior of the country.
According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA), the bad weather is expected to continue until late morning, with thunderstorms, showers and occasionally strong winds expected to persist.
"E-Redes will remain mobilized and active in resolving all situations that may be affecting customers," the company assured.
