New coach of the Polish national team! A surprising return to the Polish Football Association (PZPN)

New coach of the Polish national team! A surprising return to the Polish Football Association (PZPN)

The journalist and co-creator of the Sport Channel provided sensational information via the X platform.

"Jerzy Brzęczek will become the new coach of the Polish U21 national team. The former coach will replace Adam Majewski in this position," we read in Mateusz Borek's post on social media.

Interestingly, Jerzy Brzęczek's candidacy was, until recently, one of the options for the senior national team. Ultimately, however, the Polish Football Association chose Jan Urban .

Media: Jerzy Brzęczek is the new coach! He will lead the U-21 national team.

Brzęczek's coaching history is, admittedly, quite unusual. The captain of the Olympic runners-up at the 1992 Barcelona Games, he played in 42 official matches for the Polish national team, scoring four goals. Brzęczek coached Poland from 2018 to 2021. Interestingly, the national team qualified for Euro 2020. However, the world was torpedoed by the COVID-19 pandemic, which halted almost everything, including sport. Ultimately, the European Championships were postponed to 2021, and before the Euros began, Brzęczek lost his job. The success of qualifying for the European Championships was then redeemed by the Portuguese Paulo Sousa, hired by then-president of the Polish Football Association, Zbigniew Boniek.

It's safe to say that if Mateusz Borek's news proves true, Cezary Kulesza will extend a hand to Brzęczek, offering him another chance to play for the national team. Brzęczek is expected to replace Adam Majewski. At the recent U-21 European Championships, the Polish team performed very poorly, being eliminated after the group stage, where they suffered three defeats in three matches.

Before Majewski, the coach of the U-21 team was Michał Probierz.
