Football. Pogoń closes transfer window?

Ekstraklasa Pogoń Szczecin has acquired 5 foreign, seemingly classy players, but we do not know their performances on the pitch, except for the Spanish central midfielder Jose Pozo, who last season played in the team of the relegated team from PKO BP Ekstraklasa Śląsk Wrocław. We hope that the league matches will confirm the value of the new acquisitions. The most important thing, however, is that Efthymis Koulouris and Adrian Przyborek will probably remain in Szczecin.

In addition to Pozo, Twardowski was joined by: the defensive midfielder from Senegal, Mor N'Diaye (Kallithea Athens, Greece), the central defender from Portugal of Romanian origin, Marian Huja (Petrul Ploiești, Romania), and two wingers - Musa Juwara from Gambia (Vejle BK Copenhagen, Denmark) and Paul Mukairu from Nigeria (Boluspor Kulubu, Turkey). In addition, the first team was trained by young people from the Pogoń Academy and the third-league reserves at the camp in Opalenica: Kacper Berkowski, Jacek Czapliński, Natan Waligóra, Alex Peśković, Natan Ława and Sebastian Rojek.

Let us recall that the following players left Gryf: Kacper Łukasiak, Marcel Wędrychowski (both GKS Katowice), Antoni Klukowski (Widzew Łódź), Olaf Korczakowski (Puszcza Niepołomice), Rafał Kurzawa (Bruk-Bet Termalica Nieciecza), Luizao (return after a loan to the English West Ham United), Mariusz Malec (Śląsk Wrocław), Stanisław Wawrzynowicz (Sokół Kleczew), Benjamin Rojas (probably return to Chile) and Joao Gamboa (probably South Korean Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors). Pogoń extended the loan to the first league newcomer Polonia Bytom of Axel Holewiński for another season, but at the same time extended the contract with the young goalkeeper until June 30, 2027.

It seems that this may be the end of the current transfer window in Szczecin, but there are voices, including on the Internet, especially on the Transfermarkt portal, that Pogoń is still holding talks and the names mentioned are: Belgian defender Axel Witsel (Spanish Atletico Madrid), Brazilian midfielder Luquinhas (loaned from Legia Warsaw to Brazilian Fortaleza), Croatian defender Antonio Tikvic (English Watford), Venezuelan defender Josua Mejias (Greek Kallithea Athens) and midfielder Kacper Szymanek (Wisła Puławy). The topic of central defender Maik Nawrocki from Scottish Celtic Glasgow, with whom Pogoń had talks, has fallen through, because he found his place in German Hannover 96.

There was also a buzz on the internet that the best sniper of the navy blue and burgundy, the top scorer of the Ekstraklasa, Koulouris (who has a valid contract with Pogoń until June 30, 2026), has a lot of offers, e.g. from Russian CSKA Moscow and Spartak Moscow (which bordered on a scandal!), Turkish Besiktas Istanbul and German Union Berlin, but only the last offer is left on the table, but fortunately - according to Transfermarkt - with decreasing probability...

The interest of Turkish clubs from Istanbul, Besiktas and Fenerbahce, as well as English club Arsenal London, was also aroused by midfielder Przyborek (contract until June 30, 2027), but it is likely that president Alex Haditaghi will manage to keep the youngster in the city of Gryf. (mij)
