FIVB Volleyball U21 World Championship: Day 1 schedule and match results

The championship, held in Indonesia, will run from August 7th to 17th. Twenty-four teams, including the Polish national team, are participating. The Polish national team has been drawn into Group C, where they will face Italy, Turkey, Egypt, Algeria, and the Czech Republic. Their first match will be against Egypt (broadcast on Thursday, August 7th on Polsat Sport 1 at 10:50 AM).
The group stage will last until August 12. Four teams from each of the six-team groups will advance to the knockout stage.
Among the tournament favorites are the Turkish team, gold medalists at last year's European Under-20 Championship, and the Italian team, who won silver at the same event. Traditionally, the Brazilian and Japanese teams will be strong contenders at the U20 World Cup, as well as the Chinese and American volleyball teams.
Two years ago, China won the gold medal at the U21 World Championships in Mexico. Italy took silver, and Japan took bronze. The Polish team finished 11th. Zhuang Yushan, now a member of the Chinese senior national team, was named MVP of the tournament. She was even the third-highest-scoring player in the 2025 Volleyball Nations League. In this year's VNL, she played in the quarterfinal match against Poland in Łódź, among other matches.
In the past, the best players at the U21 World Championships were such famous volleyball players as Mayu Ishikawa from Japan (2019), Brayelin Martinez from the Dominican Republic (2015) and Zhu Ting from China (2013).
