On Monday, July 7, at the age of 76, the late Stanisław Weryk, an outstanding road and track cyclist, Polish champion and national representative, and then an activist, event organizer, sportswear manufacturer and generous sponsor, died.

He represented LZS Gryf Szczecin, WLKS Gryf Szczecin, Arkonia Szczecin, and LKS Pomorze Stargard. He won the Polish Championship title, was a member of the national team, participated in the World Championships (in Brno in 1969, he finished 8th in the 4-kilometer team race) and the European Championships, and was selected to the Olympic team.

After retiring from cycling, he supported young athletes as an organizer and sponsor, subsidizing trips to competitions and camps, as well as organizing sporting events. His company provided prizes, including T-shirts, for race participants. His promotion of cycling in the West Pomeranian region and his business and sports activities made him a prominent figure in the cycling community. Rest in peace!

The funeral will take place on Friday (July 11, 2025) at 1:00 PM in the chapel at the Old Municipal Cemetery in Stargard. A funeral Mass will be celebrated in the aforementioned cemetery chapel at 1:15 PM, and after the Eucharist, a ceremonial procession to the final resting place will take place. (mij)
