Manchester City reach Club World Cup round of 16 after win over Al-Ain

Manchester City secured a place in the last 16 of the Club World Cup after beating Al-Ain 6-0. Ilkay Gundogan scored twice for the English club, with Rayan Cherki, Claudio Echeverri, Oscar Bobb and Erling Haaland scoring the other goals.
The match in Atlanta was a clash between two sheikhs and brothers. Abu Dhabi sheikh Mansour owns the Premier League club, while his older brother sheikh Mohamed is the boss of Al-Ain. On the pitch, City were the masters, with fine goals from Gündogan and Echeverri. Dutch internationals Tijjani Reijnders and Nathan Aké were rested.
Manchester City, the last winner of the Club World Cup in 2023, lead the group together with Juventus. Both teams have 6 points and will play a head-to-head match on Thursday to determine who will advance to the knockout stage as group winner.
