The Mexican national team surprises with several absences from the Gold Cup pre-roster.

The Mexican National Team will prepare for a new edition of the Gold Cup, a competition of which they are the defending champions after winning the last installment of this Concacaf trophy in 2023. The Mexicans defeated the Panama National Team 1-0, with a last-minute goal from Santiago Giménez .

For this competition, Javier “Vasco” Aguirre, presented this past Wednesday to the Mexican Football Federation the preliminary list of 60 players who can be called up For the next edition of the Gold Cup, what surprised fans was the absence of a player who competes on the old continent.

ALSO: This was the reason for José Ramón Fernández's departure from TV Azteca

According to Gibran Araige of TUDN, Rodrigo Huescas would be the player that Aguirre did not consider for the next Concacaf competition, this due to the recent disciplinary problems that the former Cruz Azul player has had with his current team, FC Copenhagen from the Danish first division.

In addition, the "Vasco" did not include in the pre-list players who belong to Monterrey and Pachuca, because these teams will compete in the Club World Cup and will seek to have their complete team for this competition, so players like Gerardo Arteaga, Elias Montiel, Carlos Moreno, German Berterame, Bryan Gonzalez, Victor Guzman, Iker Fimbres, Pedro Pedraza or Alan Bautista, Those who had already been called up previously will not be able to play for their national team in this summer's Gold Cup.

For his part, Javier will place players who belong to the Águilas del América on the pre-list, since although those from Coapa will play a match against LAFC for a ticket to the Club World Cup on May 31, if the Azulcremas do not win this match, players like Luis Malagón, Ramón Juárez, Erick Sánchez and Israel Reyes, would be making up the list of the 23 players who will be in the next Gold Cup.
