No interest in going to Brazil

Amid continued rumors that he might be in Brazilian football, Toluca's board reiterated that they have no formal offer for Marcel Ruiz, especially from Palmeiras, despite reports that there is an offer for the Yucatecan.
According to information from Rubén Rodríguez, published by Marca, the 2025 Clausura champions' priority is facilitating the midfielder's departure to Europe, provided the offer benefits his professional and financial development. They would even be willing to sell him below his value if this condition is met.
"The board told him that 'if something comes from Europe where you can continue to grow and do well, we'll support you.' They're willing to sell it at half price," the journalist stated.
For the time being, Toluca is not considering negotiations with Brazilian clubs, as neither the player nor the club are interested in continuing his career in that league. According to the same source, neither Palmeiras nor any other Brazilian team has made a formal offer.
"They have nothing from Brazil, and especially Palmeiras, and they hope the offer doesn't come," Rodríguez said. "Marcel isn't convinced about playing in Brazil, and the club doesn't see him as an attractive option either."
Journalist Pablo Oliveira reported that Palmeiras increased its offer to $14 million in order to complete the signing before the market closes.
Marcel Ruiz, 24, was a key player for the Mexican national team at the 2025 Gold Cup and played a key role in the Choricero team's victory under the technical direction of Antonio Mohamed.
"Turco" Mohamed has expressed his desire to retain the player on several occasions: "We hope he stays. Besides, playing at this level and playing here, he has a better chance of playing in the World Cup."
It has emerged that the player had also recently rejected an offer from English football, as he was not convinced he would play in the second division.
According to Transfermarkt, his current value is around 7.5 million euros.
Verdao's interest in the Yucatecan midfielder arose from the sale of Richard Ríos to Europe.
After a standout performance at the Club World Cup a few weeks ago, Benfica acquired the Colombian for €27 million.
