Excessive speed and wheel problems were the causes of the accident involving Diogo Jota and his brother, according to initial investigation data.

The Traffic Brigade of the Zamora Command of the Civil Guard has determined that the most likely causes of the accident involving Diogo Jota and his brother, André Silva , are, as initially reported, a problem with a wheel of the vehicle and excessive speed.

The Traffic Department is finalizing the expert report on the accident that occurred at kilometer 63.300 of the A-52, which connects Pontevedra with Benanvente, heading toward Zamora, at approximately 12:40 a.m. on Thursday, July 3. All the evidence from the accident has been analyzed, and the subsequent vehicle fire has significantly complicated the investigation.

However, the marks left by one of the wheels on the asphalt of the road, about 100 meters from the impact site and measuring about 50 meters in length, may have been decisive in reaching these preliminary conclusions.

All the evidence conducted by this investigation team indicates that the driver of the car was Diogo Jota . According to EL MUNDO, their families were able to determine the identities and location of the occupants using the young men's belongings, as the fire had significantly damaged the bodies of the two footballers.

The report is still pending, but it has been judicialized even though no crime was committed. The investigation is being conducted by the sole court of Puebla de Sanabria, headed by Judge Elena Rubio González.
