A woman has been arrested for a mass attack outside Cornellà stadium, which halted the Espanyol-Barça match for a few minutes and left at least 13 injured.

A woman has been arrested for a mass attack outside Cornellà stadium, which halted the Espanyol-Barça match for a few minutes and left at least 13 injured.

In the 8th minute of the Catalan derby, referee Soto Grado suspended the match for a few minutes when he was informed of a mass riot in the vicinity of the Cornellà stadium where Espanyol and FC Barcelona were playing.

As can be seen in the footage, the driver of a white vehicle, surrounded by several hundred supporters, drove into the crowd that was heckling him and shaking his car shortly before the start of the match. According to the Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan police), a woman was driving, and the collision may have been accidental. The Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan police) also confirmed that the female driver has been arrested.

The consequences of the mass crash are unknown, although initial reports indicate no serious injuries and that around 13 people may have been affected, four with minor injuries and nine with less serious injuries, according to the Generalitat's Emergency Services.

The son of Badalona's mayor, Xavier García Albiol , is one of the minor injuries, according to the municipal public media outlet Badalona Comunicació. The car reportedly ran over the young man's foot. The PP councilor was taken to Sant Joan de Déu Hospital, where he was taken.

The match was restarted just a few minutes later by the referee, although many fans in the stands protested the continuation, believing it should not have happened given the seriousness of the events, and left the stands.

Some media outlets report that up to seven ambulances are working at the scene, as well as several police units working to clear the affected area. The Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan police) have also indicated that there is no risk to stadium-goers.

Salvador Illa , president of the Generalitat (Catalan government), praised the rapid response of the emergency services and expressed his satisfaction that the consequences of this "accident" were not serious, as he stated during halftime of the match between Espanyol and FC Barcelona.

One of the 13 people injured in the accidental accident outside the RCDE Stadium is the son of the mayor of Badalona (Barcelona), Xavier García Albiol, as he himself explained in X.

Sources close to the mayor told Europa Press that the car hit his son's foot, but added that he is fine. Albiol himself traveled there and then to Sant Joan de Déu Hospital for treatment.
