Sesto Calende - Sesto Calende starts the experimental collection of used medical devices - Archive - Varese News

Sesto Calende has officially joined the REMED project, an experimental initiative promoted by the pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk for the collection of pre-filled medical devices for self-administration of drugs. The “pens”, instruments without needles and used mainly by diabetic patients , currently end up in unsorted waste but, thanks to this initiative, they can be disposed of in special bags in participating pharmacies.
The initiative, which does not entail costs for the Municipality, aims to improve the management of domestic health waste and to recover recyclable materials contained in the devices. As the lead Municipality of the Intermunicipal Waste Convention , Sesto Calende has signed the Memorandum of Understanding with Novo Nordisk, confirming its commitment to innovative and sustainable solutions in the environmental field.
The experiment will last one year and will be monitored step by step to evaluate the results.
