Peppe Mattera returns home: Real Forio welcomes back its leader.

A return that exudes history, belonging, and pride. Real Forio 2014 pulls off a truly remarkable coup by bringing back Giuseppe Mattera, a central defender born in 1983, a true Forio native and a true icon of island football.
After more than two decades of a career filled with success and major events, "Peppe" Mattera will once again don the green and white jersey, the one where it all began. Having grown up in the Forio youth academy and blossomed as a footballer at the legendary "Torrione," Mattera is ready to write a new chapter in his sporting adventure, right where his dream first came true.
His resume speaks for itself: more than 300 appearances with Ischia Isolaverde , three promotions earned, including the historic climb from Serie D to the First Division thanks in part to league reform. Then there's the historic promotion to Serie B with Benevento in 2015-2016, the leadership role in De Laurentiis' Bari rebirth project, and, very recently, the recent success with Altamura , culminating in another promotion to Serie C in 2024.
In between, he had significant experiences with Pianura, Aversa Normanna, Casertana, Matera, and Casarano. Wherever he went, Mattera left his mark: leadership, determination, positioning, and an uncommon devotion to the jersey.
"For me, it's like coming home," Mattera said emotionally after the agreement with Real Forio was made official. A return that is much more than a simple transfer: it's a symbol, a message for the young players and for the entire Biancoverde community.
President Luigi Amato welcomed the defender, along with the entire management, enthusiastic about welcoming back one of the most illustrious sons of Forian football.
With Giuseppe Mattera, Real Forio 2014 not only adds experience and quality to its defensive line, but also strengthens its connection to its own identity. Because certain returns can't be explained, they're celebrated.
