Jonathan Milan's historic Tour de France victory

Friulian Jonathan Milan won the eighth stage of the Tour de France, Saint-Mèen le Grand-Laval, 171.4 km, in a sprint.
The “Bull of Buja” has regained the green jersey in the points classification.
Tadej Pogacar retained the yellow jersey as leader of the general classification.
An Italian had not won a stage at the Tour since Vincenzo Nibali on July 27, 2019. The fast lasted 113 stages and 2,176 days.
"I still have to fully understand what we've done," his first words after the winning sprint, "because when you set out, you always have dreams you want to turn into victories. Today, we were all very prepared, we had a clear focus on what we had to accomplish, and we all succeeded, to the fullest. I knew I had to wait as long as possible before launching the sprint: I particularly enjoy these types of finishes, but the level at the Tour is extremely high. However, we can say that we deserved the victory today. This is a victory that means a lot to me, but given the six-year wait, it also means a lot to Italy. However," concluded the champion from Friuli, "my mind is already turning to tomorrow, when we'll try again in Chateauroux."
