Imola out of Formula 1 in 2026: here is the official calendar

Imola (Bologna), 10 June 2025 – It's now official: Imola is out of the Formula 1 World Championship . In the 2026 calendar announced this morning by the Circus' top brass, the only Italian stage is the Monza Grand Prix.

The rumors of the past few days have been confirmed, with the top car racing starting on March 8th in Australia and ending after 24 races on December 6th in Abu Dhabi. The Canadian GP has been moved to the end of May window, which in recent years had been reserved for Imola, with Monaco in turn postponed to early June.

As has been clear for a few days now, Imola's only hope of remaining in the Circus is a possible withdrawal from Madrid : the race, scheduled for September 13, is in fact indicated with an asterisk in the 2026 F1 calendar as the new Spanish circuit is awaiting approval from the FIA.

If Madrid makes it, Imola will have no choice but to work towards 2027 to return to the Circus. How? The plan is now known: a rotation system with a couple of historic tracks, see Spa and Barcelona, to host the race every two or three years with a financial outlay of 35-40 million per GP compared to the 25 paid until the last edition. A figure far from the 55-60 million that were instead requested by F1 to be part of the Circus on a stable basis.

“This news does not represent the end of the story at all – commented in a joint statement the President of the Region, Michele de Pascale , and the Mayor Marco Panieri –. We are and were aware of the complexity of the dynamics related to the calendar and the picture was very complicated from the beginning”.

Then an indirect reference to the work of the Government. "We have highlighted several times, on several occasions, in different ways, to all the actors involved, the importance and strategic nature of the issue - de Pascale and Panieri underline -. However, this is not the time for controversy, buck-passing and giving in to resignation. Now is the time, for everyone, to assume their responsibilities and resume reasoning for a return to the calendar. We continue to believe in it, with conviction and clarity, with the pride of a territory that, together with the other institutional partners, has shown that it knows how to dream big and concretely build opportunities".
