Federica Venturelli won bronze in the Under 23 World Time Trial. Lorenzo Finn finished fourth among the men.

Italy's first medal at the UCI Road World Championships in Kigali , Rwanda. Federica Venturelli won the bronze medal in the women's Under-23 time trial, over the 22.6-kilometer distance, finishing behind Britain's Zoe Backstedt and Slovakia's Viktoria Chladonova. On the grueling Rwandan course, the 20-year-old from Cremona stopped the clock 2:11 behind the winner, who finished in 30:56.16, at an average speed of 43.8 km/h. After setting the fourth fastest time at the first timeout, Venturelli gained a position in the subsequent stages, overtaking Australian Wilson-Haffenden. Venturelli rides for UAE-Adq: "This medal is very important to me," says Venturelli, originally from San Bassano, in the province of Cremona, "because after a difficult start to the season, I've managed to make a good recovery. I've done many races with the team that weren't really suited to my characteristics because they were challenging in terms of altitude, but they have undoubtedly helped me prepare for this goal and be a little more ready to tackle the elevation gain of this time trial. It's an important medal because it means I've resumed my growth path despite all the difficulties and therefore gives me hope for the future. Honestly, on such a demanding course, I didn't expect to reach the podium, because there were so many strong opponents at the start. I was hoping for a top ten finish, so reaching the podium was definitely unexpected and makes me happy. I have to thank UAE Team ADQ for supporting me during this experience as they have all year, thanks to my national team which, despite the limited budget, reserved a place for me in this World Championships and this shows great confidence, and thanks to all the people who have supported me. who follow me from home, my family and my friends who have always supported me during this adventure".
