" We have been very impressed with Valérien throughout what has been a rigorous recruitment process. He knows the championship extremely well and what it takes to finish in the play-offs. Having played for Strasbourg, Lens, Werder, Hanover and also Bayern Munich during his playing career, Valérien Ismaël has officiated in Germany (Nuremberg, Wolfsburg), Cyprus (Apollon Smyrnis), Austria (LASK) and Turkey (Besiktas) since his debut as a coach. He has also coached three English clubs, Barnsley (2020-21), West Brom (2021-22) and Watford (2023-24) .
