Tennis: Ruud and Shelton pass the first round in Acapulco

The favorites held their own. The first round matches of the Acapulco tournament began on Monday night. Among the favorites, Casper Ruud , seeded number 2, easily beat Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech with a score of 6-4 6-3. Ben Shelton, seeded number 5, eliminated Italian Flavio Cobolli in 2 sets 7-6 7-6. The American will face David Goffin, who defeated Hijikata, in the 8th finals.

In the other matches of the night, Tommy Paul, seeded number 3, took out the young Canadian Gabriel Diallo 6-2 6-2. He will face his compatriot Marcos Giron, who beat the Australian Walton, in the next round. The young American Learner Tien beat the British Cameron Norrie 7-6 6-3. He will face the German Zverev or the Italian Arnaldi in the 8th finals.
