Rapid Menton knocks AS Roquebrune-Cap-Martin out of the Coupe de France

It was almost like back to school... For this first regional round of the Coupe de France, the draw had given us the first derby. And what better way to kick off a football season than with a match between Rosm and ASRCM - who won't be playing on the same floor this year. Moreover, the public was not mistaken, as the entire microcosm of local football had gathered in a particularly well-filled stand. It was an opportunity to discover the still incomplete squads of both teams.
Fossali decisiveThe Roquebrune side, now led by Jérémy Gagliardi, failed to pull off a spectacular feat: the fault of a former player of the red and yellow team. It was indeed Fossali who shot down the opposing goalkeeper (13', 1-0) following a corner kick from another former Roquebrune player, Carvalho Dias. Menton generally dominated the first 25 minutes before gradually disappearing. ASRCM then resurfaced but were unable to equalize. It was Roquebrune again who took control of the match after the break, fortunately for Rosm, the defense held firm. The Menton side even had the chance to KO with a penalty whistled in their favor, but Abdellah did not convert it. The visitors would push until the end, in vain. It is Rosm who qualify with difficulty for the next round.
The reactionsStéphane Peragnoli, Rosm coach : "It was a tough qualification against a courageous Roquebrune team. We controlled the first twenty minutes with a deserved goal, and then nothing more. The lights went out at Lucien-Rhein. I'm hoping the squad will listen and get back to the basics."
Jérémy Gagliardi, ASRCM coach : "We're disappointed with the defeat, of course... Disappointed with the result, but we're still satisfied with the content. This narrow defeat on a set piece is a little frustrating, but we'll continue to prepare for the start of the championship."
