Two men arrested for femicide in Jalapa del Marqués, Oaxaca

OAXACA, Oax., (apro) .- One month and five days after the murder of Isabel QM, JARS, alias “Ricoy” and SZM, alias “Zamora” were arrested for the crime of femicide committed in the municipality of Jalapa del Marqués in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec region, confirmed the Oaxaca Attorney General's Office (FGEO).

The events occurred on August 19, 2025, when the victim—a woman identified by the initials IQM—was walking on Third North Street in the Juárez neighborhood of the municipality of Santa María Jalapa del Marqués.

The Prosecutor's Office stated that, as a result of the work derived from the activation of the Protocol for Ministerial, Forensic, and Police Action in the Crime of Femicide, JARS, alias "Ricoy," and SZM, alias "Zamora," were arrested, likely responsible for taking the life of a woman, following a shooting.

The victim was intercepted by two people riding a motorcycle, who shot her, leaving her injured at the scene. She was treated and taken to a hospital, where she died as a result of the attack.

When the FGEO became aware of the events, a gender-sensitive investigation was initiated, coordinated by the Isthmus Regional Deputy Prosecutor's Office. This immediate action led to the issuance of arrest warrants against the alleged perpetrators.

After carrying out an operation, members of the State Investigation Agency (AEI) located JARS, alias "Ricoy," and SZM, alias "Zamora." They were arrested on the morning of September 24, 2025, and placed at the disposal of the corresponding ministerial authority.
