He wasn't a racing driver, nor was his car a Formula 1 car, but he managed to maintain the mystery for six years. More than five years after causing a profound shock to other drivers on European highways, the Czech police have finally managed to unravel the mystery of the racing car that launched itself into conventional traffic and then uploaded the videos to social media.

The first clips showing an F1 car driving among conventional cars date back to 2019. Already then, Czech authorities began searching for the mysterious driver, but without success. Dressed as a real driver, hidden by his helmet, it seemed impossible to unmask him . He was even dubbed "the ghost driver" on the internet. It was only now, six years later, after a careless moment on the part of the protagonist, that authorities finally managed to track him down.

After the initial shock, some of the drivers suddenly overtaken by the red racing car didn't hesitate to contact the police, and this time, the warnings paid off . Alerted, the Czech authorities mounted a search party with several cars and a helicopter to hunt down the mysterious pilot.

Once located at a gas station in the town of Dobris, not far from Prague, they followed him to his home, where, to his chagrin, he was arrested. There, the officers discovered that it wasn't a Formula 1 car, but a Dallara GP2/08 with a vinyl cover that looked like a Ferrari .

The detainee is a 51-year-old man with a passion for motorsports , although he shared the channel where he posted his prohibited rides on conventional roads with his son, who was also a car enthusiast. To date, they had uploaded more than 100 videos and had over 10,000 followers .

Although both denied being the mysterious driver behind the single-seater, protected by the anonymity of their helmets, the punishment they face is significant. It ranges from complete revocation of their driver's license to a hefty fine for driving the racing car on conventional roads while endangering other drivers.
