However, one man went to extremes, as he decided to steal the first decorations of the 2026 World Cup placed in areas surrounding the Monterrey stadium.

Local media in Monterrey reported the arrest of a man who, along with a woman, stole decorations from the BBVA Stadium , which will host some of the 2026 World Cup matches.

It was also reported that shortly after the completion of the World Cup decorations in the areas surrounding the stadium, the couple was caught stealing some of them.

Images circulating on social media showed the alleged thieves stealing a giant soccer ball-shaped decoration from the roof of their vehicle. However, as they tried to flee, they were caught, allowing authorities to recover the decoration.

Monterrey media highlighted that the police acted quickly and effectively because the evidence was so obvious, as it was obvious that the couple was carrying a giant object on the roof of their car .

It was finally reported that the man arrested in Guadalupe, Nuevo León, was identified as 64-year-old Daniel "N." Despite the news being reported promptly, no details were provided regarding the sentence or penalty he would receive for attempting to steal the 2026 World Cup decoration.
