Former Barça player Carles Pérez has been hospitalized after being bitten by a dog on his genitals.

Former Barça player Carles Pérez has been hospitalized after being bitten by a dog on his genitals.

Spanish player Carles Pérez , who plays for RC Celta de Vigo, suffered an attack while walking his dog in Thessaloniki, Greece, which left him with a wound on his genitals.

The forward, a Barça youth player currently on loan at Aris , tried to prevent his pet from being attacked by another dog and was left seriously injured.

The incident took place in Thermi, a town near Thessaloniki, where the player has been living since this summer after Getafe declined to exercise its purchase option following his loan in the 2024-25 season.

According to several Greek media outlets, Pérez required several stitches after being transferred to a private hospital.

Although the club has confirmed the information, it has not issued a medical report to corroborate or supplement the facts.

However, medical staff maintain that his condition is serious and surgery may be required , the online version of the Kathimerini newspaper reported.

Aris has expressed its full support for the player and is considering taking legal action against the owner of the dog involved in the incident, EFE reports.

The Spanish striker will not be able to play this Thursday in the second leg of the second qualifying round of the Conference League, in which Aris faces Azerbaijani side Araz-Naxcivan at home, who won the first leg 2-1.
