Barça signs a sponsorship agreement with the Democratic Republic of the Congo

FC Barcelona and the government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) announced a four-year strategic agreement this Wednesday with the goal of promoting football and the culture of sport and peace . This agreement represents, according to the Catalan club, "a shared commitment to fostering multi-sport development within the DRC."

As part of this collaboration, Barça "will contribute to enriching the training of the country's young athletes by transmitting its ecosystem of values."

The Barça club will do so through the Barça Academies, which will create and develop a program of sports activities—including camps and clinics—aimed at children in the region to promote structured and inclusive development through the practice of soccer, basketball, handball, indoor soccer, and roller hockey.

Furthermore, the Barça Innovation Hub (BIHUB) will develop specific programs for adults, with training paths for coaches that will foster talent and expand the knowledge of these professionals using the Barça methodology in the following areas: advanced technical training, age-specific sports structuring, integration of sports science, and joint sports organization.

As part of this agreement between FC Barcelona and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo, all of the club's professional teams will wear the DR Congo-Coeur de Afrique emblem on the back of their training shirts for the next four seasons , until 2028-29.

This agreement will also be present in the future Espai Barça, as the Casa de la DRC will be created at the new Spotify Camp Nou facilities . It will be an immersive exhibition welcoming stadium visitors to showcase the cultural diversity and sporting tradition of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, with the aim of strengthening ties with this Central African country.

Although neither party has quantified the deal, according to various reports, the club will earn approximately €44 million during this period. In recent weeks, AS Monaco and AC Milan have also announced similar sponsorship deals with the Democratic Republic of Congo.
