Atlas gets off to a good start in the tournament after beating Puebla

Atlas started the 2025 Apertura Tournament on the right foot, after beating the Puebla team 3-2 at the Cuauhtémoc Stadium , with the outstanding performance of Diego González , who provided two assists in the match.
The Rojinegros opened the scoring in the match with a free kick. Diego González sent a precise shot into the heart of the box, which Gaddi Aguirre headed home to make it 0-1 and give Atlas the lead.
Minutes later, Puebla responded after Edgar Guerra made his way into the box and assisted Esteban Lozano in a very tight space, who only had to tap the ball in to make it 1-1.
In the second half, the Rojinegro team again took the lead on the scoreboard, after a cross in the area the ball reached the feet of Eduardo Aguirre , who took a 'little backheel' that was saved, so Rivaldo Lozano appeared to push the rebound and put the 1 to 2 in the match.
Atlas took control of the action, and a pre-arranged play led to the Rojinegro's third goal of the night. González sent a precise cross into the box, and Adrián Mora appeared to make it 3-1. Late in the match, Puebla reduced the deficit with Guerra's powerful shot to make it 3-2.
Gonzalo Pineda's team earned its first three points of the semester, against one of their direct rivals in the fight for the bottom spots in the standings.
