América is having a bad time in Ciudad Juárez

América got off to a poor start in its 2025 Apertura tournament . Despite the 1-1 draw against the Bravos at the Benito Juárez Olympic Stadium , the Águilas were alarmed by the injury to Álvaro Fidalgo.

The Coapa team crossed the border with a surprising lineup that marked the return of Igor Lichnovsky, the captaincy of Erick Sánchez , and some of their key players on the bench.

However, in the 39th minute, they struck first. Alejandro Zendejas made his debut as the Azulcrema's number 10 with a fine goal, the first for the Plumados this season.

Thus ended a boring first half, lacking in ideas and with América ahead on the scoreboard.

But the second half began, and with it, the capital team's misery. They could have extended their lead, but failed to capitalize on their opportunities.

Erick Sánchez opened the scoring for the Bravos. "El Chiquito" was sent off in the 70th minute after reviewing a harsh tackle on the midfielder. Being reduced to one man less doomed the Águilas.

The locals gained ground, began to arrive and in the 80th minute, Rodolfo Pizarro tied the score with a header at the Benito Juárez.

The worst news came in the 84th minute, when Álvaro Fidalgo had to be substituted due to injury, just nine minutes after coming on.

América dropped two points at the start of the tournament, the planning leaves doubts, and the red flags are turning on with the departure of "El Maguito."
