Small very special game preparation - Cloverleaf pays fans away trip

Small very special game preparation - Cloverleaf pays fans away trip

After a very difficult few weeks, SpVgg Greuther Fürth is looking to turn things around and secure their place in the league. The club has come up with something special to achieve this.

On Wednesday, the two led the training session, which, like few others in recent Cloverleaf history, embodies what the team has been lacking recently: aggression, attitude, and putting their heart on the pitch.

Thomas Kleine and Milorad Pekovic shaped more successful phases at SpVgg, such as the 2012 promotion. However, their connection to the long-standing club is so strong that both offered their support without hesitation, even during this difficult time. For the two 47-year-olds, it feels "like coming home."

Aggressiveness and a laugh again

"The team has an absolute responsibility," said Kleine, who wants to see aggressiveness on the pitch and "a team that's alive." Pekovic is confident "that we'll manage to avoid relegation," even though the situation is serious. For the former number six, it's also about "taking some of the pressure off the boys and seeing them laugh again."

Flick's shattered CL dream: Did Lewandowski arrive too late?

The semifinal between Inter and Barcelona – a match that really didn't deserve a loser. In the end, however, Barca had to bury their title dreams – what did Flick's team fail at, and what does the future hold? We spoke with kicker reporter Jörg Wolfrum.

The preparation for the away game in Hanover is a controversial one for Kleine. After all, the 47-year-old was still working as assistant coach for 96 under André Breitenreiter until two weeks ago.

The former central defender knows the opponent very well – and in Hannover, Kleine had "even already done a bit of preparation for the match against Fürth." After the switch of sides, Kleine now has to draw up a game plan for the club. This means he's likely to be better prepared than anyone else for this game.

Professionals and club take over buses and tickets

Fürth hopes to generate widespread and vocal support with a special campaign. The club sent a letter to season ticket holders on Wednesday: "The club, together with the team, is providing free buses and tickets so that we can all support our team in Hanover together."

Mause and Motika left out

Jannik Mause and Nemanja Motika will play no role in Hannover or elsewhere at SpVgg. The two loan players were offered the opportunity to train with the U23s. The two attacking players, who were never convincing in Fürth, are no longer part of the team.
