News: Greta Thunberg, Christian Eriksen, FIFA

The images of the aid flotilla with which Greta Thunberg is currently heading for Gaza are going around the world. It is noticeable that the Swedish activist often wears a jersey of the Irish first division team Bohemians FC - the "Bohs" as they are called in Ireland. This is no coincidence: the fan-run club has advertised trade unions and refugee aid on its jerseys in the past. And since the war in Gaza, it has been committed to supporting Palestinians - just like many Irish people. In addition to a sewn-in Palestinian flag, the jersey features the slogan "Saoirse don Phalaistín", Irish for "Free Palestine". Over 200,000 euros are said to have already been raised for aid with the jersey. Critics such as the former Irish Justice Minister Alan Shatter accuse the club of using its symbolism to call for the "destruction of Israel". The "Bohs," on the other hand, see themselves on the side of the defenseless, drawing parallels to their own history, colonized Ireland. "We are grateful that the club is represented in this small way by having Greta wear our jersey on her journey," the club said. The day after tomorrow, Bohemians face rivals Derry City in a top-of-the-table clash. It's questionable whether Thunberg will make it back to Dublin's Dalymount Park by then.
