Leroy Sané leaves FC Bayern – negotiations with Galatasaray

Munich. German international Leroy Sané will reportedly not extend his contract with FC Bayern Munich, which expires at the end of June, and is set to move to Turkey. According to Sky, the 29-year-old attacker has rejected an improved offer from the German champions. Sané, whose contract only runs until June 30, will leave the club on a free transfer.

The biggest interested party is top Istanbul club Galatasaray. The club issued a statement that evening: "Negotiations have begun with Sané regarding his transfer to our club," the club wrote on the portal X.

Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano had previously reported that Sané would fly to Istanbul this evening to undergo a medical check and then sign his contract.

“After advanced talks with the Istanbul club, all that is missing is Sané’s signature,” writes “Bild”.

FC Bayern Munich departed for the Club World Cup in the USA on Tuesday with part of its squad. Sané is included in the Munich squad for the XXL tournament. His contract with the German record champions is valid until after a possible round of 16 appearance at the Club World Cup. The German champions begin their tournament on Sunday (6:00 p.m./CEST) in Cincinnati against Auckland City.

Sané moved from Manchester City to Munich in the summer of 2020 for a transfer fee of just under 50 million euros. The 70-time international is considered one of Bayern's top earners and, after tough negotiations, is said to be unwilling to accept a significant salary cut at the Munich club.
