Golf: JJ Spaun from the USA wins US Open

"To finish like this is a dream," said golfer JJ Spaun shortly after his victory at the US Open. "I've watched other people do crazy things. Now to have my own moment at this tournament is something I'll remember for the rest of my life."
With a magical shot on the final hole, the American had previously secured a surprise victory – his first in any of the four major tournaments. The 34-year-old made a putt of over 20 meters on the extremely difficult course in Oakmont, Pennsylvania, after which he threw his club away in joy and burst into tears.

The final day was chaotic with thunderstorms and rain. After the worst of the storm, which flooded the greens, passed, Spaun struck back.
"No better story""It's definitely like a fairytale with a fairytale ending. An underdog fights back, doesn't give up, never gives up," said Spaun. "With the rain and then the putt, I couldn't have written a better story. I'm just so happy I got to experience this."
The US Open was the third of this year's four majors. Rory McIlroy won the Masters, and Scottie Scheffler of the USA won the PGA Championship. The final tournament is the Open Championship (British Open), which will be held from July 17 to 20 in McIlroy's native Northern Ireland.
