FC Bayern: Diaz transfer probably on the home stretch

According to consistent media reports, FC Bayern has agreed on the terms of a transfer for Luis Diaz. The 28-year-old winger would be the second-most expensive transfer in the club's history.
FC Bayern has apparently finalized its first major attacking transfer of the summer. According to consistent reports from "Sky," "SportBild," "kicker," and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Munich club and Liverpool FC have reached a basic agreement on a transfer of the 28-year-old winger. Only minor details remain to be finalized. According to the reports, the Munich club will pay up to €75 million, including bonuses, in a transfer fee. The Colombian will likely sign a contract with FC Bayern until at least 2029 and earn €14 million gross. Diaz is currently awaiting permission from his current employer to travel to Munich to complete his medical.
From Porto to Liverpool - Diaz was always a regular playerThis makes Diaz arguably the second-most expensive transfer in the club's history. Only Harry Kane, who moved to the Isar in 2023 for around €100 million, was more expensive. The 28-year-old's contract was preceded by weeks of transfer negotiations. FC Barcelona was also very interested in signing him, while Liverpool initially resisted a sale for a long time before the player actively requested a release, according to media reports.
Diaz moved to Europe from Colombia in 2019. He became a regular starter at FC Porto almost immediately and a key player in their two championship wins in 2020 and 2022. In 2022, he moved to Liverpool in the Premier League for around €50 million. Diaz also immediately became a regular starter for the Reds. In his second season, he had to miss a long period due to a serious knee injury. Since then, the Colombian, who primarily plays on the left wing, has been an undisputed starter. Last season, in which Liverpool won the title, Diaz contributed 13 goals and seven assists in 36 Premier League games.
"Freedom for Dad" - Parents kidnapping in 2023In 2023, Diaz made headlines because his parents were kidnapped by guerrillas in Colombia. While his mother was quickly freed, his father was held captive by the ELN guerrilla group for two weeks. During this time, Diaz continued to play for Liverpool and, after scoring a goal, wore a T-shirt with the words "Freedom for Dad." The Colombian military, the Catholic Church, and a UN commission eventually secured his release.
Strong dribbler – with a slight weakness in finishingAt Bayern, Diaz will be deployed on the left wing. Together with Michael Olisé and Jamal Musiala—once the latter is healthy again—he will form the new attacking line behind Harry Kane. Diaz is considered a fast, dribbling attacker with tremendous work ethic. At Liverpool, however, he was criticized for his occasionally inconsistent finishing in front of goal and his decision-making in the final third.
