Derrygonnelly Harps’ Fermanagh Division 1 Football League final victory over Erne Gaels on Sunday was overshadowed by a couple of disputed two-pointers in the closing stages.

County champions Erne Gaels were left fuming after the Harps snatched a 0-17 to 0-15 victory courtesy of late two-pointers from Jarlath Flanagan and Stephen McGullion which appeared to be inside the 40-metre arc.

The first effort tied up the scoring at 0-15 apiece before former county midfielder McGullion was also awarded a two-pointer in what was a real double whammy for the Belleek men, who are managed by Donegal 1992 All-Ireland SFC winner Declan Bonner.

With the race for the New York Cup about to commence, Erne Gaels aren’t expected to appeal the result.
