Tipperary great convinced that Kilkenny won’t take score controversy further

As we reported earlier, Kilkenny met after yesterday’s All-Ireland semi-final loss to discuss their next moves following the ‘ScoreGate’ controversy, which saw the stadium scoreboard count a late wide from Tipperary.
Both teams believed that there was a four-point and then three-point difference heading into and during stoppage time, leading the Cats to chase goals, while the Premier dropped back to prevent this.
Speaking on RTÉ’s The Sunday Game, Tipperary legend, Brendan Cummins, believes that Kilkenny will not take the incident any further.
He said: “In fairness to Kilkenny, they’re honourable, the same as Tipperary on the other side.
“I think where it would have gotten really interesting is if Robert Doyle hadn’t stopped that ball on the goal line.
“Then suddenly it gets really interesting after that.”
'ScoreGate' has caused quite a stir since the final whistle blew at Croke Park this afternoon confirming, we're sure, a 4-20 to 0-30 All-Ireland SHC semi-final win for Tipperary over Kilkenny.Have we heard the last of this?#RTEgaa pic.twitter.com/ye3PwD0S01

Kilkenny manager, Derek Lyng, was gracious in defeat, and blamed the loss mainly on his side conceding four goals in the 4-20 to 0-30 loss.
He said: “I think when you concede three before half-time, you’re always going to be under pressure. We started the game very well.
“We were managing the game pretty well to that point and maybe a sense of panic when the first goal went in. I’m not sure.
“But credit to our players, I thought they responded really well, particularly in the second half. It looked like we got control of the game again.
“But conceding the fourth goal, you’re going to have to do an awful lot to win a semi-final when you concede four.
“If I was asked before the game if we hit 30 points, we would have said we wouldn’t have been too far off it. Unfortunately, just a few too many let in at the other side.”
