Rebels edge Rossies to reach All-Ireland SFC knock-out stages

Cork held on for a 0-19 to 0-17 win over Roscommon at Laois Hire O'Moore Park to put their name in the hat for Monday morning’s All-Ireland SFC preliminary quarter-final draw.
In the end, a diving block from Daniel O’Mahony on Diarmuid Murtagh’s two-point attempt towards the finish saw John Cleary’s men getting over the line and avoiding a draw which would’ve been enough for the Rossies to advance to the knock-out stages instead.

Scores from Mark Cronin and Ian Maguire late in the first-half helped the Rebels to hold a 0-10 to 0-6 lead at half-time before their Connacht counterparts reduced the arrears to two points.
Dylan Ruane, Daire Cregg and Ben O’Carroll were among the early second-half scorers for Davy Burke’s charges, but they’d fall six behind by the 51st minute as Colm O’Callaghan saw a brace of points backed up by Sean McDonnell and Cronin.
With their season on the line, Roscommon came with a late push that included points from Cian McKeon and Cregg (2) which made it a one-point game prior to Cathail O’Mahony shooting over at the far end and Daniel O’Mahony deflecting Murtagh’s equalising effort with a superb block.
