Patrick Mahomes goes viral for his celebration as Chiefs star returns to Texas Tech following Super Bowl loss

A Texas Tech basketball fan made a full-court putt and then celebrated with Patrick Mahomes on the quarterback's return 'home' on Monday night.

The Chiefs star has kept a low profile since the Kansas City Chiefs suffered a humiliating Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Mahomes suffered a miserable afternoon in New Orleans, where he was sacked six times as the Chiefs' hopes of a three-peat went up in flames.

But the quarterback - who is sporting a new look - was given a hero's welcome as he returned to Texas Tech on Monday to watch the Red Raiders face the Houston Cougars.

'Back home' the school wrote alongside photos and clips of Mahomes sitting courtside with his wife Brittany, who recently gave birth to their third child.

During the game, a fan holed a putt from the other length of the court and then ran over to Mahomes. The quarterback leapt into the air to bump the fan as the crowd cheered.
