Mohamed Salah makes feelings clear on 'best' Liverpool season and points to two team-mates

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah believes his current season is his best for the club, despite him scoring a massive 44 goals in his debut campaign with the Reds.
Salah scored 32 league goals in the 2017-18 campaign - at the time a record for a 38-game Premier League season - and a further 12 in cup competitions. The tally included 10 in the Champions League proper as Liverpool reached the final, as well as one in a qualifying play-off victory against Hoffenheim.
This season, he already has 25 league goals to his name with 11 matches remaining. He has 30 in all competitions from just 38 appearances, with his 44 in the 2017-18 campaign coming from 52 outings.
The big difference this term is assists, though, with 16 in the league and 21 in total. He only managed 14 in all competitions in his first season at Liverpool, and has pointed to his link-up play with team-mates Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo while making the case for the current campaign being his best yet.
“I think this is my best season because I have made other players around me better," Salah told TNT Sports. "That is what I feel. I know their games.
“If you look at the numbers of our other players, it will be higher than their previous seasons. My assists are higher this year which shows that I have helped them a lot.
“Cody and Lucho as well as other players are having their best seasons," he added. "Better than any other season so I think this is my best season.”

With 16 goals in all competitions, Gakpo is just five shy of the career-best 21 he managed in his last full season as a PSV Eindhoven player. DIaz has 13 this term, matching his best Liverpool campaign, though he finished with 22 in the 2021-22 season after joining the Reds from Porto midway through the campaign.
Salah's future is uncertain, with the Egyptian out of contract in the summer. He is clearly valued by his team-mates, though, with Gakpo hailing his colleague in December as the Reds took maximum points from their three closest matches to Christmas.
"I hope for us and for him that he can continue doing that for a long time," Gakpo said at the time. "We are very lucky to have him and proud that we can be his team-mate and try to make him better. And he is trying to make us better as well."
