Manchester United vs Bournemouth: Live score, team news and updates as Rasmus Hojlund opens the scoring early on

That's it, a very pleasing scoreline for Ruben Amorim. Good football, good defending, some youngsters given minutes. I think you call that a solid day at the office.

Something for the smattering of Bournemouth fans to cheer. Brooks skins a couple of defenders with a long touch past them and flashes the ball across goal for De Ligt to slide it into his own net. The defender is smiling in frustration at himself.

I've got to say, United have been zipping it about. You wouldn't think this is some loose band of subs cobbled together in pre-season. This looks an efficient operation. Are Manchester United actually... good?

It's the 21st century, so it's about time I brought you some footage of the latest goals. Voila. Enjoy.

I promise I'm not obsessed with Marcos Senesi, but I do feel it necessary to share some images just to demonstrate his fire and thunder this half. It's almost comical how aggressive he has been. This is pre-season, man! But at least Iraola knows he can count on one man to be committed through thick or thin. Look at the cries of pain from Hojlund and Dorgu!

I'm probably going to call this too little, too late from Andoni Iraola. Bless him. His side haven't been at the races today, but they might as well have been, because they haven't been much of a presence in Chicago either! I really wasn't expecting it to be this one-sided.
Adu-Adjei on for Evanilson

The influx of subs has had a huge effect on the game. Chido Obi nearly added another there but was leaning back and lifted his shot over the bar from inside the area.

What a moment for the 19-year-old Manchester boy as he bags his goal!
Diego Leon had been stumbling towards goal and eventually fell, but Williams picked it up, snaked his way inside, and found a gap at the near corner.
He scored a couple on loan at Cheltenham last season, but this stage is something else.

Tom Heaton is now the sole survivor for United from kick-off. Nine changes for Man United:

Matthijs de Ligt? More like Massive de Ligt! The United defender rose like a totem pole to meet a corner and forced a save from Dennis with a bullet header.
On the second corner, United try to work things around fancily but Bournemouth keep their shape and win an offside.

Almost an instant impact from David Brooks! He and Adrien Truffert combine down the left and he lashes off a high shot from close range, but Heaton tips his effort onto the bar.
There's a scramble from the resulting corner and Heaton makes a last-ditch save as Semenyo tries to squeeze the ball over the line. Heaton must be loving this. He doesn't get many run-outs nowadays but he's been solid here.

Oh no, the substitutes have started. Bournemouth make five.

Real end to end stuff this. Diallo was darting through the Bournemouth box before Senesi - who else, Mr Ubiquitous? - stops him in his tracks.
Within a few seconds, the south coast side are down the other end, before Semenyo goes down far too soft and lays on a theatrical performance to try and win the penalty. I don't think the challenge would've even be a foul if you were playing chess.

Senesi is on a mad one. He's just gone for another slide tackle, and this time pulls it off impeccably at a hard angle.
Bournemouth are growing into the half a bit. Ouattara has just let fly with a smashing effort and it deflects out for a corner. Evanilson heads wide at the back post under pressure from Shaw.

Amad punishes Bournemouth!
A sloppy passage of play saw the ball lolling around in the area, before Amad comes along and just strokes the slowest-motion shot you'll ever see into the corner.
This could turn into a rout.

Senesi must think he is at the World Slide Tackling Championships because he has just gone for another - and placed bottom of his heat.
This time, Hojlund is his victim, and it's another free-kick on the edge of the area for United, but nothing comes of it.
It appears to be monsoon season now - you can even hear the rain on the Sky Sports mics, which is incredibly rare.

Lovely strike from Mason Mount, which draws a gasp from half of Chicago.
Fernandes teed him up and he drove a low shot through the bodies towards the right of the Bournemouth goal, which had Petrovic scrambling.

Dorgu appears to have installed himself as United's attacking midfielder, and it has worked.
Senesi tried to lay the ball out in his own third, and there Dorgu was to intercept in the No 10 position, before he bombs towards the imperilled Cherries defender and draws a free-kick.

The second half is off and Bournemouth lose the ball within seconds with a mindless long ball forward, a habit I will never comprehend among professional teams, but there must be some fancy reason for it.
Bournemouth have spent most of the first 90 seconds afetr the break defending in their half so I'm not sure how effective it was.

It looks like it will just be the one change for United at the moment, with Matthijs de Ligt coming on for Harry Maguire, while Bournemouth are putting out the same 11.

Just doing a scan of X - a Wild West whose personalities you can't trust to even be real people - and you can feel the love for Dorgu.
One fan described his performance as a 10/10, one said they'll get a tattoo of him if he gets a hat-trick, and another has christened him the best left-back in the world - a blatant lie, although he may be the best left-back who is currently awake.

It might be too little too late with news of United's approach for Sesko, but Hojlund has done all he can in that first half.
Not only did he finish beautifully from Dorgu's cross, but he was combative and making good runs throughout the half.

Stormy seas in terms of the weather, but all plain sailing for United in that first half. Ruben Amorim will be happy with how his side have attacked, but concerned with how many opportunities they allowed in the last 15 minutes there.

Yoro is looking off the pace. In the space of 15 seconds there, he's just sacrificed the ball twice. The first time it was from a lackadaisical pass, the second he was hounded by Tavernier and Ouattara and he didn't release the ball quick enough before being tackled. Bournemouth miscued their counter but that should be a wake-up call.

He's never scored a competitive goal for Man United (admittedly he only joined in the winter transfer window), but this is what he's capable of.

This Ouattara-Evanilson partnership needs to be studied. The former seems to have a telepathic connection with any air which is two inches away from the later's boots.
He's just flashes a venemous inswinger across the face of goal but again, nothing comes of it because Evanilson, throwing himself towards it, is just short.

The Cherries come back again and it was an explosive counter-attack from Ouattara, who drives past Fernandes and Shaw and forces a save from Heaton.
The momentum is with AndonI Iraola's side here.

Another wasted chance from Bournemouth as Evanilson pops a limp header into the hands of Heaton after a good cross from Ouattara.

Oooh, that was close! Bournemouth have been denied a goal there because Semenyo drifted offside. It was a lovely little ball through from Billing but the striker went too early.

And United have doubled their lead!
Dorgu deserves that, but Bournemouth should have defender better. it was a simple curling ball over the top from Mason Mount, and Dorgu shrugged off Araujo's challenge before evading Senesi's tackle and finishing past Petrovic.
Far too easy but he won't be complaining.

Harry Maguire's presence is being felt and the aerial game suits him. The mics just picked up a full-blooded 'go on 'Arry' as he rose to bosh a header away.
Just a weather update: the ponchos are now out in the stands. The wind is carrying showers now, but that's probably some relief from the heat out in the States.

There have been some really sloppy passes today. Bournemouth especially do not look that comfortable on the ball, but United have also gifted possession in their own half also. Still a bit rusty.
Dorgu is looking a livewire down the left and pressing aggressively, even into the Cherries' area.

I've just heard a young fan shout 'let's go Mason Mount! Oh yeah!', which was far too cringy for my liking, so time to turn this clip up to full volume and reminisce about a time in my life when I hadn't heard that.

James Hill launched a long throw into the area but Bournemouth were unable to convert from it. The ball broke down the right flank and Diallo was on his bike, but Zabarnyi was on his motorbike and beat the youngster to it. At least a couple of lads look sharp.

CHRIS WHEELER: Big celebration there from Rasmus Hojlund. He needed that goal after hitting the post early in the win over West Ham in New Jersey and then fading from the game. On the day United have made their move to sign Benjamin Sesko, it was quite a timely one too.

That was excellent from the United striker, as he just feathers a header into the corner after Dorgu had blasted the ball across the box.

Fernandes was presented with a sudden chance but Petrovic denied him with some quick reactions.
So far, Amorim will be pretty happy with what he has seen. It has been pretty rough and tumble - Hojlund and Zabarnyi were at it from a goal kick, while Mount was penalised for steaming into Soler.

Man United chose to go short from a free-kick, but Diallo could not work an opening. Dalot tries a cross but it is blocked and goes out for a corner, which United send long. Bournemouth have barely had a kick yet.

Man United get us going and it's straight back to Tom Heaton, who launches it long.
The forbidding wind already looks to be having an impact on the flight of the ball and players' control. This could get very interesting, fast.

Hmm... that seemed quite a muted reception as the teams walked out. there was some claour from the faithful gathered near the tunnel, but whatever screams or shouts there were dissipated quickly into the wind. It is an open air stadium, so I'll give a bit of leeway, but there wasn't much enthusiasm there.
Plenty of empty seats in the stands at Soldier Field, as there were for Saturday’s game between United and West Ham in New Jersey.
It’s fair to say the majority of fans in this 61,500-capacity stadium are supporting United. Bournemouth have been based in Chicago as well for the last few days, but they have had a much lower profile.
Just to give a bit of context, West Ham beat Everton 2-1 in the other game. Bournemouth and Man United remain the top two on three points each, so if there's a winner today, they'll be in pole position to claim the series going into the final fixture.

The anticipation is growing at Soldier Field. I've just spied a young fan holding up a placard asking Bruno Fernandes for his shirt - probably a long shot give he's still got to go and play in it.
Given how blustery it is, I wouldn't be surprised if the players were asking some of the fans for THEIR shirts to get extra layers on!

Man United TV swerved a bullet there as they took us on a tour of Chicago Fire's training facility, where the team have been based.
United's cameras went on a tour of the complex, only for them to turn a corner and have to blur some of the footage due to 'x-rated' content - probably players coming out of the showers!

Well, as it stands it looks like we're on course to kick off at 2.30am UK time as expected.
But looking at the players warming up, you see just how much their kits are flapping.

Near the start of this blog I asked you to recall Manchester United's starting XI from their last trip here in 2015, when they lost 2-0 to PSG on the same date.
Here's our answer. Well done if you got all 11!

Ruben Amorim's plan to deal with the rigmarole of the coming season? To have a fluid, adaptable squad. He explained to MUTV:
'I want the same intensity from the last game, but improving vertain things, especially on the ball.
'It's going to be a really good test. We are going to play with players in different positions to see different things.
'Bruno is going to drop near Casemiro and we will try to defend in a different way in the first moment. We want all the players ready to play in different positions.
'Cunha is going to be ready for the next one but today we felt he had a little bit of fatigue because of the training. We want to be careful and we have other options.
'I want to see the defence defend one against one. Evanilson is really fast. I want to train Harry Maguire in this scenario.'

Harry Maguire has somehow managed to spin the tumultuous weather as a positive.
'It's perfect weather for us out here today to put on a great game and a game of intensity,' he told NBC Sports.
We'll hold you to that, Harry!

I've just watched the final throes of Altay Bayindir beating Harry Maguire 2-1 in a game of cornhole on MUTV. Feel like I've really missed out on something there by not tuning in earlier. Couldn't tell you what the game was - some sort of bean bag throwing contest which is big Stateside. Fair play, Altay.

Very moody skies over Soldier Field tonight. Rain has been falling heavily most of the day here in Chicago and it’s showing no signs of letting up as we approach kick-off.
There has been talk of kick-off being delayed by 90-minutes if there is a thunderstorm within 10 miles of the stadium, but hopefully there won’t be any need for that after all the disruption we saw at the recent Club World Cup in the US.

Apologies United fans, I know this must be testing your patience, but today is not the day that you will see Mbeumo missing chances for you. For that, you still have Rasmus Hojlund.
In the meantime, did you know her multi-dimensional Bryan is? It turns out he has quite a few interesting hobbies, which you can read all about here. It's good to know that footballers aren't robots.

Let's take a look at the place where United will get the music pumping ahead of today's clash.
Lionesses hero Michelle Agyemang says gospel music has been her great motivator for her before games - maybe get some of those tunes on?

Andoni Iraola and Romain Faivre don't look particularly pleased with being photographed but they're going to have to accept it.
Iraola gives us a death stare down the lens while Faivre is more subtle with his disapproval, shooting us a bit of side-eye.

Harry Maguire must be pretty good at packing because he's managed to fit whatever he needs today inside a small satchel, while Ruben Amorim has gone for a whole rucksack and Bruno Fernandes has opted for a mid-sized bag.
Not much more to be said about pictures of guys walking through the annals of a stadium but I'll take that analysis and run with it.

And here is the 11 that Bournemouth will be going with. Plenty of goals in that.

The headline news as Man United release their line-up is that there is no Matheus Cunha. Two games into his United career and he's already hit a roadblock.
Amorim said: ‘We need to assess all the players. We have to be careful with everyone. He’s available for the next one. Mateus felt a little bit fatigued. He was ready to play, he wants to give everything, but we need to be careful.’
There's also, as expected, no Bryan Mbeumo.
Ruben Amorim is not done revolutionising his frontline. With every transfer rumour, Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee's fingernails are bitten a bit shorter.
But this isn't a rumour. Mail Sport can report that United have officially made contact with RB Leipzig over Benjamin Sesko - a move which has ramifications for other Premier League transfer business - and you can read more about that here.
Bournemouth got their Summer Series off to a rampant start with a 3-0 thrashing of Everton.
Jordan Pickford looked pretty helpless, and frustrated, as the Cherries ran riot in Everton's defensive third, with Philip Billing, Dango Ouattara, and Daniel Adu-Adjei all netting.
Billing's in particular was a lovely strike, and he'd only been on for 10 minutes. Not a bad pitch for a starting spot.
We're only to games into pre-season - United first drew 0-0 with Leeds before their West Ham win - but Kobbie Mainoo is already feeling comfortable in his role and alongside some new faces...
United's last time here at the Soldier Field was exactly a decade ago and it ended in a 2-0 defeat by PSG.
Blaise Matuidi and Zlatan Ibrahimovic were on the scoresheet that day, but what I want to know from you is: how many of United's starting XI from that day can you name?
I'll reveal the answer a bit later. And no, Louis van Gaal did not play.
Manchester United claimed victory in their first Summer Series clash with West Ham last week, with Bruno Fernandes scoring both goals in a 2-1 win.
We had another look at new signing Matheus Cunha, although we're still waiting on the chance to see Bryan Mbeumo play for the Red Devils as he couldn't make it in time for New Jersey. That won't be today, though - Ruben Amorim has already confirmed that.
