Cargin goalkeeper John McNabb was on fire as the Erin’s Own men defeated Dunloy by 1-20 to 2-13 in Portglenone.

Saturday night’s win means the holders finish top of Group C with a 100 per cent record and will face Aghagallon in the last eight.

While McNabb (0-7) officially finished the game as his side's joint top-scorer alongside Conhuir Johnston (1-4) and Tomás McCann (0-7), his majestically sliced left-footed strike from play on the run in the final action of the game, which was recorded as a point, was clearly struck from outside the arc and should have been a two-pointer.

In an exhibition of kicking, ‘Jinny’ also landed two further two-pointers over the hour – one from play and one from a long-distance free – as well as converting another free and a ‘45’, while his restarts were on the money all night.

Despite losing what was an epic tussle, Dunloy also advance to the quarter-finals, where they will take on St Brigid’s in a repeat of last year’s pairing. Their goalscorers last night were Sean Elliott and substitute Luke McFerran, slightly blotting McNabb’s otherwise perfect performance.
