Horse racing tips: ‘He’ll relish this trip under Ryan Moore’ – Templegate’s 5-1 Chester Cup NAP and 1-2-3 prediction

TEMPLEGATE tackles a massive Friday of racing confident of smashing the bookies.

The feature race of the day is the Chester Cup at 3.05pm, live on ITV4.

Our top tipster delivers his 1-2-3 prediction and verdict for the £170,000 contest below.

LEINSTER (3.05 Chester, nap)

This son of Camelot showed lots of promise when winning at The Curragh last time. He was well on top in that big field and looks set for improvement over this longer distance.

THE FOXES (2.35 Chester, nb)

He was a cracking fourth in the Hong Kong Cup when coming home with a real rattle and Chester should be right up his street.

COROLLA POINT (4.00 Ascot, treble)

He was a good winner on debut and went down in a close finish at Doncaster on comeback last month. He should be fitter for that and makes his handicap debut from a fair mark.

CHESTER

TWO TEMPTING can keep up the excellent record of stall one in this race and make it four wins in the past decade for the inside stall.

He scored over course and distance last season and went close at Newbury 27 days ago. He’s weighted for a big run.

Divine Libra won’t have it easy from stall 11 but he is another who likes it here and is fit from a promising comeback.

Transcending Glory has some smart form over 7f but may have a tricky time from a wide draw.

Yanifer has a better draw in five and he’s a fair 4lb higher than his win over 7f here in August. He gets this far and should be involved.

Gorak was beaten just half a length in good company at Haydock last time and has a chance from just 2lb higher today.

ALL six of these have a bright future but AMMES looks the one for today.

He came back from six months off with a promising second at Kempton over 1m2f and should find a lot more over this longer trip.

Owen Burrows is in fine form and his Al Wasl Storm caught the eye when beaten just over a length at Lingfield last time.

He is proven over this test and has more to come.

Orionis looked in need of the run when third at Wetherby last month and has plenty of stamina on her dam’s side.

Her fillies’ allowance brings her right into the picture.

Wise Counsellor has been knocking on the door and tries cheekpieces for the first time which may help at this tricky track.

The Pouncing Lion wasn’t disgraced on debut at Goodwood in October and Ryan Moore is on board.

THE FOXES handled tight Sha Tin when a brilliant fourth in the Hong Kong Cup and has a Goodwood win on his CV, so Chester should be right up his street.

His last run over this distance saw him take a Newcastle Listed contest with ease and he can hug the rail from his stall one draw.

Cambridgeshire winner Liberty Lane is respected going up in distance after doing the donkey work into a headwind when fifth at Doncaster on return.

The booking of Ryan Moore takes the eye for Karl Burke.

He has another chance with Bolster who enjoyed testing ground when winning a Newmarket Listed race last time out in November.

He goes well fresh but could do with some juice in the ground.

Space Legend looks a bigger threat for William Haggas.

He was second in a Royal Ascot Group 2 last season and it’s interesting to see him dropping back a quarter-mile to kick off the campaign.

Certain Lad is not in the first flush of youth but he’s fit from a Group 2 second in France and will try to nick this from the front at a track where those tactics can work.

LEINSTER put himself right in the picture for this by winning a big-field handicap at The Curragh last time.

That was just his fourth run and he hit the line hard over 1m4f.

He is bred to relish this longer trip and Ryan Moore is on board for Joseph O’Brien from a handy stall-five draw.

East India Dock has been brilliant over hurdles this winter and he won a decent contest at Goodwood over two miles last Flat season.

He is only four and looks an ideal type for this race.

Caballo De Mar has been in excellent form on the all-weather, winning four in a row at Southwell.

He likes quick ground on turf and, while this is much his toughest assignment, he could hit the frame.

Zoffee won this first-time-out last season and is only 1lb higher in the handicap today.

Stall four helps and it would be no surprise to see him bounce back to form.

Who’s Glen was a 13-length winner over 1m6f here in September and is fit from a Kempton second. He has a big chance if handling this decent ground.

Hot Fuss was fourth in the Fred Winter hurdle last time and has talent on the Flat too. He’s on the shortlist.

WARDA JAMILA showed loads of promise when beaten a length on comeback at Epsom last time which bodes well for handling Chester.

He likes this trip on decent ground and Oisin Murphy gets back on board.

Take Heart was a solid sixth at Cork 20 days ago and he’s just 3lb higher than his handicap win at Glorious Goodwood last season over this trip.

Grey Cuban landed back-to-back wins here last season and is best at this distance.

This is a stronger contest but his liking for the track will take him a long way.

Rathgar finished just ahead of the tip at Epsom latest and can’t be discounted despite a tricky draw in stall ten.

Penzance likes this trip and had no luck in running over a mile at Thirsk on Saturday. He’s better than that fifth-place finish.

ASCOT

1.50

BRAVE MISSION finished last season with a smooth success over this trip at Kempton and can take a big step forward on this handicap debut.

He has plenty of pace and looks open to improvement.

Power Fizz is back from the same mark that saw him go down in a head-bobber at Goodwood last week.

He likes this trip on quick ground and is another with more to come for William Haggas.

Humam is consistent and put in another excellent performance when just over a length off the pace on all-weather finals day at Newcastle.

He would have every chance if repeating that effort back on turf from the same mark.

Columnist was beaten just a neck in the Coventry Stakes so has class.

He’s been off since July but is worth a check in the market going up in distance.

Philanthropist has been going well over this trip on the sand with wins at Newcastle and Southwell.

This is tougher but he’s capable of better for in-form James Fanshawe.
