Hadley’s Beau Elson selected for NECBL All-Star Game

Hadley native Beau Elson was one of four Valley Blue Sox players to be selected to participate in the 2025 NECBL All-Star Game, which will be held at Maxfield Sports Complex in White River Junction, Vermont (home of the Upper Valley Nighthawks) on Sunday.
Elson was a late addition to the all-star squad as teammates Andrew Wertz, Gregory Shaw III and Sebastian Mexico were originally named to the South Division roster last weekend. Following a five-strikeout performance in four innings of action against the Newport Gulls on Tuesday, Elson earned the invite as one of two players per division to join via Fan Vote.
“I fought very hard for [Elson to be an All-Star] originally, but he deserves that All-Star bid,” Blue Sox head coach Endy Morales said. “Ultimately he throws with confidence and doesn’t second guess his talents. Elson is locked in to what he has to offer and he’s not so worried about the hitter.”
Elson has compiled a 2.36 ERA in 26.2 innings while also adding 32 Ks in six games this summer. Only Shaw (2.03) has a better ERA than Elson among Valley pitchers.
“I’m so pumped and excited,” Elson said on making the All-Star Game. “It’s a lot of hard work that’s gone into this, so much sacrifice from my parents, they are the best.”
With the Fordham Rams as a freshman, Elson saw the mound 22 times and collected a 6.44 ERA in 50.1 innings as a reliever.
Wertz has been designated as the South Division’s closer for Sunday’s contest as the Salve Regina hurler has posted a stunning 0.59 ERA in 12 appearances for the Blue Sox this season.
Mexico has been the league’s best hitter since suiting up for Valley in mid-June as the Baldwinville product paces the NECBL in hits (37), holds the share of the lead in home runs (six) and has the second-most RBIs (26).
First pitch for Sunday’s game is set for 5:10 p.m and can be streamed on ESPNplus. A home-run derby is scheduled to precede the affair at 2:40 p.m.
