Doon held to second draw in Limerick SHC

Reigning champions Doon and Kilmallock played out a 0-22 to 2-16 draw in the third round of the Limerick senior hurling championship yesterday (Thursday) evening.
Goals from Killian Hayes and Oisin O'Reilly got Kilmallock off to a flying start in Knocklong, where they’d hold a 2-5 to 0-4 lead midway through the first-half, before the holders fought back and the points of Adam English, who finished with 0-13, would help the cut their deficit to two come half-time (2-7 to 0-11).
Doon would be level within five minutes of the restart thanks to Barry Murphy’s point and English would surge them front by the 58th minute.
Gearoid Enright got a brace of points back for Kilmallock, but English added more from frees and open play to ensure that Doon remain unbeaten heading into their fourth round meeting with Ballybrown next Friday (6.15pm), with Kilmallock set to face last year’s runners-up Na Piarsaigh, who drew with Doon in Round 1, in their next outing on Saturday week (6pm).
