Diogo Jota dead latest updates: Liverpool star dies aged 28 as tributes flood in

The Portugal Football Federation have issued a statement following Jota's tragic death.
The statement reads: "The Portuguese Football Federation and all of Portuguese football are completely devastated by the deaths of Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva, this morning, in Spain.
"Much more than an outstanding player, with nearly 50 caps for the National A Team, Diogo Jota was an extraordinary person, respected by all colleagues and opponents, someone with a contagious joy and a reference in his own community.
"The Portuguese Football Federation expresses its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Diogo and André Silva, as well as to Liverpool FC and FC Penafiel, the clubs where the players respectively played. The Portuguese Football Federation has already requested UEFA to hold a minute of silence, this Thursday, before our National Team’s match against Spain in the Women’s European Championship. We have lost two champions.
"The passing of Diogo and André Silva represents irreparable losses for Portuguese Football, and we will do everything to honor their legacy daily."
A theory has been shared about the cause of Diogo Jota’s tragic car crash.
The incident took place at around 0:40 hours when the Lamborghini that he and his brother were travelling in left the road and caught fire.
Sources consulted by Efe suggest that the car may have suffered a burst tyre while overtaking, which is why it left the road and caught fire.
Diogo Jota shared a touching post about his wedding on Instagram just a matter of hours before his passing.
The clip was shared on Wednesday with the caption: "A day we will never forget," alongside a heart emoji.
Luis Montenegro, the Prime Minister of Portugal, has taken to X to send his condolences to Diogo Jota’s friends and family.
He wrote: “The news of the death of Diogo Jota, an athlete who greatly honoured the name of Portugal, and his brother is unexpected and tragic.
“I leave the family my deepest condolences. It's a sad day for football and for national and international sport.”
A statement from the emergency services in the Castilla and Leon region has confirmed that there was a vehicle accident in Zamora.
Their statement read: “The 112 Castilla and Leon operations room received several calls reporting a vehicle accident at kilometre 65 of the A-52, in the municipality of Cernadilla, Zamora. A car was reported to have been involved in an accident and the vehicle was on fire."
The Liverpool ace married his long-term girlfriend Rute Cardoso just two weeks before the fatal accident.
The couple celebrated their wedding in Porto.
News has broken in Spain that Liverpool star Diogo Jota has died. The forward and his brother Andre were involved in a car crash which claimed their lives in the province of Zamora on Thursday.
The accident occurred shortly after midnight when their vehicle went off the road and sparked a fire near the town of Palacios de Sanabria. Emergency services were called to extinguish the fire.
