The redevelopment of St Tiernach's Park in Clones has been boosted by the news that it is to receive a further €664,668 as part of the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund (RRDF).

The allocation has been earmarked for the Clones Community Hub and St Tiernach's Quarter Regeneration Project, with training facilities, multimedia resources and meeting spaces among the amenities due for construction. It brings the total sum invested by the Government in the RRDF to €20.5 million.

"This is a game changer for Clones and St Tiernach's Park and I congratulate all involved in the process that has brought us to this point. The RRDF Category 2 proposal was prepared by Monaghan County Council in partnership with key local community organisations and the GAA,” Senator Robbie Gallagher said.

Monaghan County Council chairman Cllr PJ O’Hanlon added: “It’s a proud moment for Clones and for Co. Monaghan. This investment will help revitalise the heart of the town and support the kind of inclusive, forward-thinking development that our communities deserve. I commend everyone involved in shaping the vision and securing this funding.”
