Cork football boss John Cleary has expressed his frustration at the decision by the Central Hearings Committee to uphold Sean Brady's one-match suspension.

Brady will miss Saturday's All-Ireland SFC round-robin clash away to Meath following his controversial red card during Cork's Munster SFC semi-final extra-time defeat to Kerry. The Ballygarvan defender was dismissed by referee Barry Tiernan at the start of extra-time for what was deemed to be a high shoulder on opponent Joe O’Connor, but replays showed the challenge was closer to the chest area.

“We were disappointed when he was sent off, and to doubly compound it then, he appealed and it wasn’t successful,” Cleary told reporters on Tuesday evening.

“Anyone I spoke to all over the country couldn’t understand why it was a sending off. Yet when he appealed it, they doubled down on it.”

Cleary is also planning for the trip to Navan without the injured Kevin Donovan, while a heel problem is threatening Tommy Walsh's participation.
