Ciarán McDonald's 17-Year Old Son Is Already Wreaking Havoc In Mayo Senior Championship

When it comes to the most talented Mayo players of all-time, it is difficult to look beyond Ciarán McDonald for that particular title.
The Crossmolina Deel Rovers man might not have won quite as many individual honours as some of his countymen, with just one All-Star to show for his inter-county career. However, there are not many more naturally gifted players to emerge from the county.
With that in mind, it is perhaps not surprising to see that some of his talent has rubbed off on his son.

Ciarán McDonald's 17-Year Old Son Is Already Starring In Mayo ChampionshipDespite not turning 18 until later this year, Kobe McDonald is already making his mark in the senior ranks in Mayo.
The youngster would start at midfield for Crossmolina in their Mayo Senior Championship clash against defending champions Ballina Stephenites at the weekend, helping his team to a shock 3-20 to 4-10 victory.
McDonald would score 0-7 in the game, 0-6 of which came from dead balls. He would knock over a pair of two-point frees, as well as a 45, in what was an absolute exhibition of long-range kicking.

What a talent.
Kobe McDonald has been a fixture in Mayo underage teams in recent years and he will be hotly tipped to graduate to the senior panel over the coming seasons.
Crossmolina Deel Rovers would win the intermediate championship in Mayo in 2024, securing their return to the senior ranks for this season. The club were a genuine powerhouse during Ciarán McDonald's playing career, winning three Connacht titles and an All-Ireland crown at the turn of the century.
While they still have some way to go if they want to recreate those former glories, they will be hoping that the arrival of a certain young talent will boost their prospects in the Mayo club scene over the coming years.
