Ballygunner remain on course for a 12th Waterford senior hurling championship title in-a-row after brushing aside Passage with a 2-27 to 2-9 victory yesterday.

Harry Ruddle and Patrick Fitzgerald struck the goals for the Gunners who are now 64 games unbeaten in the Waterford SHC.

Meanwhile, Mount Sion edged out Clonea by 0-28 to 2-21 after extra time to book their place in the last four.

After the full-time score read 0-18 to 1-15, Austin Gleeson’s four points helped Mount Sion move towards a five-point advantage at the break and, despite conceding a Francis Roche goal, the city side would get over the line with Gleeson landing the winner for them through a sideline cut.

Today (Sunday) sees the other two quarter-finals down for decision in the Deise County, with Lismore and De La Salle batting it at out 2pm before the meeting of Roanmore and Fourmilewater at 3.45pm.

The competition’s semi-finals are scheduled for next weekend.
