Limerick great Ciaran Carey has questioned the mental state of Cork ahead of the Munster final clash against the Treaty county.

Speaking on OurGame, the two-time Munster winner - and uncle of Limerick captain Cian Lynch - believes that they still have to answer that question of mental fragility.

"Looking at them, you see the spells they come at in various stages of the game. I watched them very closely against Clare, and to be fair, I thought they were awesome in the first half,” Carey said.

"However, in the second half, it was a different ball game.

Okay, you were down in Clare in Ennis; you would expect Clare to come back, but there appears to be a track record with this squad of frailty, of slightly watery, of are they mentally strong enough for the real fight?”

Carey also believes that they can right the wrongs from three weeks ago, as they were annihilated by Limerick down in the Gaelic Grounds, but once again questions if they have the mental attitude to correct the changes from a few weeks ago.

“They are poised perfectly now,” he said.

"In the Munster final, Limerick, in Limerick’s backyard, got a hiding of a mother and fathering three weeks ago. We will either accept that or we're going to flip it. I suppose let's see what Saturday night will bring.

But either way, I think they still have to capacity to be dangerous. Whatever the result is Saturday night, I still believe the two teams will have a say in the future. That’s my own opinion, but it’s a massive game and there’s an awful lot at stake in this particular game.

Ok, in the last day, there was a lot at stake. From the matches last year, how good were Cork? It put a small bit of manners on Limerick, and Limerick were waiting for this one; they answered the call and did it with VAT, for want of a better word

If Cork are mentally strong enough, they will answer the call, but there's still a question mark there.”

"If Cork are mentally strong enough they'll answer the call - but there's still a question mark about that."

One thing for sure is Cork won’t be wanting to make it two hidings in a month against the same opponents in the same venue. They will look to match the Rebels team from 2006, as they look to win a Munster title against a team playing in the home venue.
