Playing his club hurling with St. Vincent's alongside Burke, the powerful forward from Marino has been knocking around the Dublin senior set-up since 2015, but it wasn't until his display against Wexford in April that he really made his mark.

Having impressed off the bench against Offaly in Round 1, Hetherton received a starting berth against Wexford, of which he took full advantage, scoring 2-3 as Dublin swept past the Yellowbellies.

Burke had nothing but positive things to say about is county and club teammate after his recent success has made him one of the talking points of the championship. The eir hurling ambassador was speaking as eir announced a major milestone in its network transformation - Ireland’’s No.1 5G Network Availability award for the fifth year in a row

He is a brilliant hurler and a brilliant lad. He is getting his chance now and I'd say most probably he should have been getting his chance a number of years ago. He is probably the best hands in the county, he is so skillful.

Dublin pulled off one of the biggest hurling upsets in recent history by defeating a strongly favoured Limerick side, and did so with 14 men for most of the game after captain Chris Crummey saw red 15 minutes in.

They now face Cork in the All-Ireland semi final on Saturday where Hetherton, a Garda by trade, is sure to play a major part.

The St. Vincent's man comes from a family steeped in GAA tradition. Both of his parents represented Dublin in hurling and camogie, while most of his family play for clubs in the local area.

Hetherton is the standout from the men in his family by playing for St. Vincent's, with his father and two brothers having kitted out for Craobh Chiarain instead.

Having played with him for years at club level, Burke, who himself scored a huge 5 points from play in the win against Limerick, was pleased Hetherton is finally getting the recognition for his talents.

He has been dominating the club scene for years now, so I'm just absolutely delighted for him, he puts in so much work day in and day out. He is brilliant around the dressing room as well, so I'm delighted to see him get a chance and really grab it with both hands.
