'Our supporters have been through the ringer financially'

Jim McGuinness is against the idea of Donegal playing their final All-Ireland SFC group match against Mayo at Croke Park.
There was speculation after Donegal’s 3-26 to 1-13 victory over Cavan last weekend that the game would be played as part of a double-header with Galway v Armagh at GAA HQ, but McGuinness was strongly opposed to it given the expense involved for Donegal supporters. The Mayo match will be Donegal’s seventh in 10 weeks and a decision on the venue will be made by the CCCC later today.
"No, we wouldn’t be happy with Croke Park," the Donegal manager told reporters after his side’s emphatic win at Kingspan Breffni.
"Our supporters have been through the ringer financially up to this point. It’s not easy getting there, it’s expensive to stay there and so on. But there are more important people than me making those decisions."
The expectation is that the Donegal v Mayo and Galway v Armagh ties will be played as standalone fixtures, with King & Moffatt Dr Hyde Park believed to be in the running to host one of them on Saturday or Sunday week.
